The QO Hotel, located in Amstelkwartier, Amsterdam, is not only an elegant appearance but also one of the most sustainable hotels in Europe. All aspects of the hotel are designed to minimize the impact on the environment. For example, the hotel has a private greenhouse on the rooftop where products for the restaurant are grown, a moving façade to keep energy consumption to a minimum and is fully equipped with LED lighting.
Beersnielsen, specialized in architectural lighting design, was faced with the challenge of having the lighting function as an extension of natural daylight on all 22 floors, including the 288 rooms, of the hotel. For this, the appearances of sunlight as they occur in nature were an important source of inspiration. The unique solutions TDE-lighttech has realized for this project are shown in the photos above. For example, the reflection of sunlight on moving water is imitated on the ceiling in the public space.
The 24VDC LED driver and RFID card reader, used for controlling the lighting in the guest rooms and for access control to these rooms, proved to be the solution for the hotel. TDE-lighttech was also responsible for the production and assembly of almost all luminaires in the hotel.
TDE-lighttech shows its strengths in cooperation with partners and users by offering unique solutions and advice. With the help of TDE-lighttech, QO Hotel has been able to achieve its objectives in terms of sustainability and atmosphere. Therefore TDE-lighttech is proud of the result of one of its largest projects.
