TDE-lighttech had been given the great opportunity to supply LED lighting for the interior of the Celebrity Flora. The ship of Celebrity Cruises is specially designed for expeditions to the Galapagos Islands and has high ambitions in terms of minimizing the environmental footprint.
Last year, the Celebrity Flora was launched in the Lobith location of Shipyard De Hoop. The 100-meter-long passenger ship is the first expedition ship specially designed and built for luxury cruises in the Galapagos region. Measuring 10,000 square meters, Celebrity Flora features 46 suites, two royal suites with a separate living area and private veranda, and two penthouse suites with floor-to-ceiling windows, marble sculptures and an all-round terrace with a Jacuzzi.
Everything about the ship is inspired by the islands and is built from natural materials, which makes the ship fit perfectly into its environment. Since not a single material could be used from the protected chain of islands, the BG Studio team referred to textures and silhouettes of diverse fauna, colors of the native flora and unique volcanic geology.
With the latest environmental technologies, the Celebrity Flora proves that responsible tourism can go hand in hand with ultimate luxury. Thanks to the dynamic positioning system, the mega yacht can maintain its position without dropping the anchors, protecting the seabed. The ship also has solar panels and LED lighting to reduce emissions. The result is one of the most environmentally friendly ships - just one reason why Celebrity Flora was voted "Best Overall Cruise Ship" last year.
Many measures have been taken in the electrical system to save energy, such as the aforementioned LED lighting and solar panels. Droste Elektro, specialized in electrical maritime installations, were responsible for the complete electrical installation on board of the ship. With its LED lighting TDE-lighttech has been able to make a wonderful contribution to this. Cursa and Sirius LED spots have been used for both the public areas and all suites with bathrooms. In addition, TDE-lighttech has made and delivered corresponding 12-channel LED drivers for all suites. These high-quality recessed downlights have a small and simple design with different options in color temperature and lenses, furthermore, the spots can dim perfectly smoothly. The products are carefully designed and manufactured to contribute to the aesthetic and sustainability goals of the end user.
TDE-lighttech is very proud to have contributed to a ship of this size and is convinced that the lighting contributes to the pleasure and experience of the passengers on board the mega yacht.
